Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) is Philadelphia’s public-private economic development corporation. Over the past 60 years, PIDC has settled over 7,150 transactions with a diverse range of clients – including more than $16 billion of financing and more than 3,200 acres of land sales – which have leveraged over $28.6 billion in total investment and assisted in retaining and creating hundreds of thousands of jobs in Philadelphia. Its direct loan and managed third-party portfolio at year-end 2017 was more than $545 million, representing 475 loans.

Position Responsibilities:
PIDC’s Credit and Portfolio Management group is seeking an individual with superior analytical and critical thinking skills to assist with the specific project detailed below, as well as general departmental responsibilities or projects.  Candidates should have relevant education, experience, or a high level of interest in economic development, community development, or finance.

  1. Portfolio Management
    Assist CPM staff with spreading and analyzing borrower financial statements. Additional responsibilities will be aggregating borrower financial data and preparing portfolio reports on borrower and industry trends
    • Assist in preparing 2018 Annual Portfolio Report
    • Assist in preparation of Borrower Annual Reviews
    • Provide research and financial analysis related to portfolio industry concentrations
  2. Impact and Outcome Tracking
    • Assist in the collection of borrower data and measures of key performance indicators to track Impact and Outcomes.  Prepare written report to explain data/results;
    • Track and create written report describing derivable accomplishments related to both lending activity and PIDC workshops and business consulting services.
    • Work with staff on annual impact survey process, including conducting the online survey, corresponding with survey respondents to ensure high-quality survey responses, using Microsoft Excel to manage impact and financial data, assisting with analysis, including written summary and visual support materials, and maintaining annual impact survey database
    • Assist with special projects in small business lending and  impact measurement;
    • Provide research on additional requested topics and provide written reports and/or analyses.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or Graduate student with relevant work experience and/or coursework in economic/community development, finance, or policy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Data management and project management experience is a plus
  • Strong research and analytical skills including a high level of competency with spreadsheets, databases, power point, word processing, and e-mail applications
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, highly organized, and ability to execute tasks in a timely manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
