PIDC is Philadelphia’s public-private economic development corporation. Our mission is to spur investment, support business growth, and foster developments that create jobs, revitalize neighborhoods, and drive growth to every corner of Philadelphia. You can learn more about PIDC at

PIDC’s Real Estate Services group provides a range of services, including (1) management and marketing of eight industrial parks and multiple stand-alone development sites throughout Philadelphia, (2) execution of strategic real estate initiatives, such as the Lower Schuylkill Master Plan, (3) marketing multiple City of Philadelphia surplus property sites throughout Philadelphia, and (4) development oversight for key public properties, including the former Family Court Building along the Ben Franklin Parkway.

PIDC’s Real Estate Services group is seeking a motivated, hard-working summer intern to assist with the specific projects detailed below, as well as general departmental responsibilities.  Candidates should have education, experience, or a high level of interest in real estate, development, or urban planning/design.  In addition, candidates should be able to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Familiarity with Salesforce and CoStar is a plus.

The resulting ILUS Report has since been used as a guide to support PIDC’s acquisition and strategic planning efforts in the past decade. Chief among the successful candidate’s duties will be to draft the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the update to the Industrial Land Use Strategy. This will include consulting the previous ILUS RFP and Report as a framework and reference for drafting the new RFP and consult with City Planning staff to determine opportunities for collaboration. View 2010 Industrial Land Use Strategy Report.
  • Inventory of Industrial Development Sites: PIDC is developing an enhanced inventory of its industrial sites to facilitate future development.  The successful candidate will assemble key information (e.g., surveys, title, appraisals, utilities, environmental, geotechnical) for each parcel and organize it in property accounts and/or real estate deal accounts in SalesForce. The candidate may also be asked to create, run, and export various transaction pipeline reports in Salesforce.
  • City Surplus Marketing & Transactions: Candidate will assist staff with marketing and transactional work related to City surplus properties.
  • General Project Support: The Real Estate Services group manages an active portfolio of properties and projects throughout the City of Philadelphia.  The successful candidate will work with staff to support these transactions.
